'Drawn to Digital' Exhibition, April 2012
I'm currently juggling quite a few different drawings and trying to work out their relationships to each other and connections between digital/ hand. Part of my day job is programming exhibitions at The Crompton in Derby and so I've decided to have an exhibition there myself this April/ May (...a perk of the job :)). I'm going to use the opportunity to just show the digital drawings (from tiny to massive...) so I can get a proper idea of how they are working, presentation options and also, hopefully, get some feed back. It will also give me the opportunity to work out the best way of explaining 'digital drawings' as the customers will soon let me know if they don't get it...
Going round in circles...
Hand and digital combined....
Today I did a quick trial of a hand and digital drawing combined. I printed the digital drawing onto cartridge paper and then drew on top. I shall pursue this further...

Chronodex
I had to share this new way of keeping a diary I found a couple of weeks ago on Patrick Ng's blog Scription (where you can download templates for midori traveler's notebooks, circa and g.t.d). I wrote about it on my other blog studio-sweepings at the time. I've now been using it for a couple of weeks and all I can say is it's brilliant!! I think it suits me so well because 1) it's very visual, 2) it allows me to see at a glance what time I'm spending where and 3) it's really flexible. Rather than printing in diary format I just add stickers where and when I want them. If, like me, you find traditional diaries too limiting - check it out.
testing ideas...
I'm feeling quite pleased with myself as my New Year's resolution to post regularly on the Fabelist site is going very well. I have been playing around with some ideas which I hope will result in a body of work which will fit into the larger picture(s). If you're wondering what the above pictures relate to you can read the post here.
Happy New Year!!
2012 has now begun! A time for reflection and looking forward. I haven't got many resolutions this year - I know it's going to be difficult to find much time in my studio because of other commitments - but I have promised myself I will put some time aside each week for The Fabelists. Each project lasts for four months - which is no time at all - particularly when you take as long as I do to produce stuff! However, I have decided to use the opportunity to revisit and reinvestigate certain things with no pressure at all to produce a 'finished' piece. An opportunity to play around with ideas which have been bubbling away underneath the surface and see where they lead. The current project is 'Connect' and my first post is here.
